Chiropractic

Our Goals:

  1. Restore alignment
  2. Prevent injury
  3. Improve performance

We practice structural chiropractic where we focus on getting to the root cause of the problem. We take comprehensive approach to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms you are facing and design a customized treatment program that fit your needs.

Structural chiropractic uses a comprehensive spinal and body analysis to determine if there is any segmental shift in the spine that may be putting extra stress on the joint leading to pain and joint degeneration that people suffer daily. We are committed to use high standard of analysis and integrative treatment protocols to deliver quality care to our patients.

How does it work?

After we have determined the specific segment dysfunction, we will perform chiropractic adjustment to the specific segment. This helps to unlocks restricted joints which help to relax the muscles that move that specific joint. The result is increase range of motion, decrease pain through the thalamic system and reduce muscle tension. Along with specific spinal care, we also educate all our patients and families how to prevent re-injury and to live healthy life. We want out patients to be pain-free and doing things they love again.

Our Chiropractic Approach

There is no reason to just sit a watch your spine degenerate. Catch it early. Early treatment leads to better outcomes.

Chiropractic can help reduce, halt and slow down the spinal joint degeneration by improving spinal balance and alignment. We aim to keep your joints, nerves and discs healthy and strong for as long as possible.

Webster Technique (Prenatal Chiropractic)

The female body goes through many changes throughout pregnancy. The body releases different hormones and there are structural changes to create space for the developing foetus. As the result of changes in the load distribution to accommodate for the extra weight, there is more stress throughout the body especially in the spine, pelvic, sacrum and muscles. The most common conditions we see during pregnancy are lower back pain and neck pain.

As foetus develops during gestation, the forward projected weight causes lumbar lordosis to increase. This can put extra stress on the intervertebral discs and facet joints. At the same time, the anterior tilting of pelvis and increased hip flexion creates additional strain to the muscles such as iliopsoas. In addition, the increase hormones such as relaxing, especially during third trimester may cause pelvic hypermobility, creating a decrease in spinal stability. Expecting moms who have previous history of low back injury or physically strenuous work also have increased risk of developing low back pain and SI joint pain during pregnancy.

Our goal is to optimise the biomechanics to support a healthy pregnancy and birth process. Specific chiropractic adjustments do not hurt. Due to the different hormones the body produces during pregnancy, it is easier to perform the adjustment with very low force. When the sacrum, pelvis and low back are aligned properly, this put less stress on the joints, reducing pain and discomfort.

Our chiropractor is certified in the Webster Technique. We are happy to have helped many of our pregnant patients to have a much more enjoyable and comfortable pregnancy.

Webster Technique is a specialised chiropractic technique that is used specifically to treat pregnant patients. It is an extra training and certification taken by chiropractors who are passionate in helping pregnant patients. The trainings are usually held in USA or the UK.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Targeted and effective relief for muscle pain.

We understand that sometimes, just treating the joint might not be sufficient as muscles can be a major contributor to the pain patient is suffering. Muscle pain or also known as myofascial pain is often associated with joint problems especially chronic pain. According to WebMD, myofascial pain may develop from a muscle injury or from excessive strain from a particular muscle such as due to poor posture or sports. The injured muscles become shortened and cause a hyperirritable spot or muscle knot known as trigger point. Sometimes, pressure on the trigger point can cause pain in seemingly unrelated parts of your body. This is called referred pain.

Dry needling is an excellent method to releasing tight muscles using very fine acupuncture needles inserted briefly into the muscle. One of the goals of dry needling is to create a local twitch response in the muscle. This is the muscle contracting and releasing, which the release of chemicals from the muscle that were holding it in a state of tension. As compared to manual muscle release/massage, the use of fine needle allows deeper parts of the muscle to be accessed with precision and ease, leading to quicker resolution of pain. Put it simply, dry needling stimulates the body to heal itself and there are no drugs or medicine involved.

Dry needling is a wonderful form of treatment for people suffering from lower back and neck pain. It is also fantastic for tennis elbow, patellar femoral pain (knee pain), shoulder pain and more. We have had many patients including athlete, swimmers, golfers and aunties who get huge benefits from dry needling. Best of all, dry needling can be used in conjunction with chiropractic treatment to improve recovery.

Flexion Distraction Adjustment Technique

Flexion Distraction Adjustment Technique

Flexion Distraction therapy is a natural, non-surgical technique that is effective to treat spinal pain due to disc herniation or slip disc. Our flexion distraction technique is performed on a specialized chiropractic table that we imported from Canada. Specific pressure is applied to the injured disc segment while simultaneously stretch and flexes the spine in a gentle motion. The adjustments, combined with the movements of the table, stretch and decompress the spine, relieving your back, leg, neck or arm pain.

Benefits of Flexion Distraction Therapy:

  • Reduce pressure on spinal nerves and discs
  • Decrease bulging of herniated discs
  • Improve range of motion and mobility
  • Improve blood circulation
  • Gentle stretching for back muscles
  • Painless and comfortable
  • Safe, effective and conservative
  • A conservative option to surgery for herniated discs

The goal of Flexion Distraction adjustment technique is to reduce pressure from the disc bulge as gently as possible. By creating a negative pressure between two spinal segments, the disc bulge is gently pulled back into the spine. The flexion distraction movement also maintains healthy discs through imbibition where nutrients around the disc are being absorbed.

Physiotherapy Exercise

Physiotherapy Exercise

Weak muscles can increase the risk of injury and pain to the surrounding joints and soft tissues. Therefore, rehab exercises are needed to increase the strength of specific groups of muscles. We prescribe specific home exercises to help you to continue your treatment at home. These exercises will support the joints healing between appointments and also offer continued rehab and strengthening long after your course of chiropractic treatment.

Benefits of strengthening exercises:

  • Improve muscle strength
  • Improve joints’ function
  • Improve arthritis condition
  • Reduce risk of injury
  • Reduce risk of pain recurrences
